What is Hermit?

Hermit is a web tool that solves a major pain point when switching from ChatGPT to another AI assistant: losing years of personal context. ChatGPT's built-in memory export gives you roughly 40 random timestamped facts — outdated, unstructured, and nearly useless. Hermit processes your full ChatGPT data export (conversations.json), reads your entire conversation history, clusters it by project and theme, and generates a rich structured AI profile with behavioral instructions, active projects, temporal awareness, and a synthesized personal portrait. The result is up to 14x more context than ChatGPT's native memory export — all formatted specifically for Claude Projects, Claude's Memory Import, and Gemini Gems. Your data is processed in-memory and auto-deleted within 24 hours, so privacy is maintained throughout.

How to use Hermit?

1. Export your ChatGPT data from Settings > Data Controls > Export Data — you'll receive a ZIP file containing a conversations.json file
2. Upload the conversations.json file to Hermit — your data is immediately processed in-memory and you get free stats and topic clustering instantly
3. Review your conversation stats, top themes, and detected ChatGPT projects for free to understand your own usage patterns
4. Purchase a profile generation to receive your full AI profile ZIP: an AI Portrait, topic-specific profiles, a Claude Memory Import file, a Current Snapshot of your last months, and an Import Guide
5. Paste your Claude Memory Import file into Claude's Memory Import setting, or copy individual topic profiles into Claude Projects or Gemini Gems
6. Start chatting with Claude or Gemini — they now have deep, structured context about who you are
