What is Redesign by Nodewave?
Redesign by Nodewave is a free, MIT-licensed local tool that connects Claude Code to a live canvas editor via an MCP server, letting it build branded social media post designs using your actual codebase components. Instead of starting from a blank canvas, Claude scans your existing site's icons, buttons, colors, fonts, and card components to produce posts that visually match your brand. Users describe the post they want in plain language, and Claude handles layout, alignment, layer creation, and copy. Finished designs can be exported as LinkedIn carousels, Instagram posts, or Reddit-ready images in square or portrait aspect ratios. The entire workflow runs locally on your machine with no backend, no cloud upload, and no Redesign API key — only your own Anthropic API usage.
How to use Redesign by Nodewave?
- Install Node.js + and Claude Code, then run `npx @nodewave-io/redesign` in your terminal to set up the canvas app and auto-register the MCP with Claude Code.
- Open the local canvas preview at http://localhost: in your browser.
- In your Claude Code session, tell Claude what post you want: describe the content, style, and target platform (e.g., LinkedIn carousel about your new pricing page).
- Claude scans your codebase, imports matching components, builds layers, and applies alignment — you watch it happen live in the canvas UI.
- Review, optionally edit the component code directly, save reusable assets, and export the final design for LinkedIn, Instagram, or Reddit.
Core Features
- Codebase-as-Style-Guide — Claude reads your existing site components (buttons, icons, colors, fonts) and uses them directly to design posts that match your brand.
- MCP Canvas Integration — An MCP server exposes the canvas as structured data so Claude can create layers, align elements, and swap copy with full validation before saving.
- Live Canvas Preview — Watch Claude build your post design in real time in a local browser-based editor at localhost:.
- Multi-Platform Export — Export finished designs in square and portrait aspect ratios for LinkedIn carousels, Instagram posts, and Reddit.
- Reusable Asset Library — Save any layer or composition as a named asset to reuse in future posts, building a design library that compounds over time.
- Fully Local & Private — No backend, no cloud, no API key for Redesign itself — your posts, images, and Anthropic API key stay on your machine.
- Free & Open Source — MIT licensed, forkable on GitHub, with zero subscription cost beyond your own Claude API usage.
